Egis to project manage the renovation of aeronautical pavements at Strasbourg airport
The project management role spans complete design through to works supervision for the runway, stop ways, taxiways and apron. Egis was chosen for its expertise in aeronautical pavements and airport safety, and ability to support and advise Strasbourg Airport with this large-scale project.
The project is part of an overall programme worth €14.5M over five years to renovate Strasbourg-Entzheim airport's pavements and ensure compliance with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations.
Egis services will include: refurbishment of aeronautical pavements, rainwater collection and management, civil engineering of utilities, lighting and aeronautical signage. In addition, Egis will undertake studies on the runway and taxiway strip, the runway end safety area and the precision approach lighting system. Regulatory and administrative assistance related to environmental aspects will also be provided.
As the airport has only one runway, it will be closed to air traffic during works, which of course will need to be carried out in the shortest possible time. This will require a high level of responsiveness and availability from Egis in its role as project manager, as well as excellent coordination with the various services and stakeholders at the airport. Works on other non-runway infrastructure will be undertaken while traffic is maintained.
Egis has recognised expertise in the design and management of works for aeronautical infrastructures, which has already been successfully implemented at airports such as Toulouse-Blagnac, Saint-Nazaire, Carcassonne and Pau in France. On some projects, we had to deliver work with traffic maintained, like in Tahiti-Faa'a airport in French Polynesia and Pointe-Noire in Congo.
